A time my life changed v.1

No longer lonely

My life was lonely

Not that I knew it at the time.

Floating from one person to the next

Giving them my friendship

Only to have them forget me in a summer.

I didn’t know I was lonely

After all you can’t miss what you never really had.

Then they came into my life

Not all at once

Slowly

One at a time

Giving me a taste of what was to come.

They slowly surrounded me with their light,

A safety net to catch me if I ever fell.

Suddenly I knew that I was lonely,

But that was before I met them.

Now I am included and loved.

Now I don’t wish I was someone else.

I no longer have the hole eating me

Devouring me

Whenever I left someone’s house.

Now I am safe and whole

And I make others fell the same

Lifting them up when they get heavy

Supporting them

And getting the same in return.

They are my pillars and I am one of theirs.

I’m not lonely anymore

Because I have friends

True friends

That I know with all my heart

That they would never forget me in a summer.

1.) Do I ramble at the end? Do you think I could end it sooner and still have it good?

2.) Should I try to add more imagery?

Version 1 of Pizza Night Disaster

Pizza Night Disaster

(ELLIE and BOB at his house laughing and flirting on his couch when the doorbell rings)

ELLIE:
Oh! That must be the pizza, I'll go get it.

(grabs money from the counter and answers the door.)

DEREK:
Here's your pizza, Ellie?

ELLIE:
D-Derek? Is that you? I haven't seen you in like-

DEREK:
4 years 2 months and 25 days.

(ELLIE gives DEREK a blank stare)

ELLIE:
So, can I have my pizza now?

DEREK:
Oh yeah...I was wondering if you....well, we could maybe...go to coff-

(In walks BOB, ELLIE'S new boyfriend, who has known ELLIE for years and knows the history between DEREK and ELLIE. BOB realizes who DEREK is and makes it obvious that ELLIE is with him now.)

BOB:
What's taking so long babe?

ELLIE:
look who's delivering the pizza! It's Derek from high school.

(DEREK reluctantly waves.)

DEREK:
Hi Bob.
(said dully)

BOB:
Dude! Wow! Nice to finally meet you! I've heard so much about you from Ellie. Why don't you come in and hang for a while?

(ELLIE and DEREK start to look uncomfortable)

ELLIE:
Well, you know hun, he probably has more work to do. You know, pizza's to deliver.

BOB:
Nope, the pizza place closed, ours was the last delivery. So come on in Marek.

DEREK:
Actually, the name is Derek.

(he gets pushed inside the door as he says this. ELLIE follows reluctantly)

BOB:
So why don't we open up this pizza and dig in? Oh, do you mind if I start the movie back up?I know you know what it's about Cedric-

(DEREK mutters it's Derek)
(BOB unconcerned continues)
Ellie here told me you two watched it all the time. Let's eat!

(Opens box and digs in oblivious to the tension surrounding the other two.)

ELLIE:
I'm not hungry anymore, I think I'm catching something Carrie from-

DEREK:
(perks up a little)

You're sick? I can make you some chicken noodle soup. It's your favorite if I remember right...If you have the ingredients that is...

ELLIE:

Oh, I don't eat meat anymore. Bob is a vegetarian.

DEREK:

Really?

(looks puzzled)

BOB:

Yep, my ex Becky gave me this book that helps explain it all better. I'll go get it.

(gets up and leaves the room. Exits off stage. DEREK and ELLIE sit in an awkward silence for awhile with no one sure of what to say.)

DEREK:

So...yeah...

ELLIE:

Yea.

(brief pause as DEREK gets ready to say something. )

DEREK:

Listen Ellie. I know that you're with Bob now, but I still love you, and I want to-

ELLIE:

No.

DEREK:

No?

ELLIE:

No, I am not giving you another chance with me, Derek.

DEREK:

Why?

(looks sad and a little confused.)

ELLIE:

Why? WHY?!? You are the one who dumped ME! I was happy with us when randomly YOU, wanted to break up.

DEREK:

Let me-

ELLIE:

Let me explain? NO! You missed that chance when you walked out of my life. I've lived in the same area for years, you could have easily gotten in touch with me again! I cried for weeks after you left but, you know what? I got over you, and you know what else? I'm fine. I have a decent job, a home and a boyfriend.

(During all of this ELLIE is getting more and more worked up. Finally she is in tears and the last two sentences are said sadly as if she is trying to convince herself as well. In walks BOB with the book and sees his girlfriend sobbing.)

BOB:

(sighs)

Now what's the matter you crybaby? You're always crying. You should have the dignity to not cry in front of guests. You're making poor whats-his-face nervous.

(All of this is said condescendingly. Through out this whole thing DEREK is getting more upset and finally erupts.)

DEREK:

DEREK! My name is DEREK! D-E-R-E-K! The name is NOT THAT HARD to remember. How would you like me to forget YOUR name? HUH? And even if I didn't remember your name, I would TRY to remember it. You know why? Because I'm not a giant, unintelligant, vegetarian jerk-face!I mean seriously, who in their right mind lets their girlfriend's ex in the house, leaves them alone together and when he gets back to see her CRYING, makes fun of her?? I should have never let her sister talk me out of purposing to her...

(DEREK realizes he just blew-up on BOB, insulted him and accidently told ELLIE why he broke up with her. He looks horrified.)

ELLIE:

What did Lisa tell you?

BOB:

Who cares, that's not important. Did you hear what he called me? Plus it sounds like he wants to get you back. Well that's not going to happen.

(BOB punches DEREK which turns into a full-blown fist fight. DEREK falls to the ground and BOB is about todeliver the last blow.)

Any last word Der-ek?

(BOB says this mockeningly)

ELLIE:

STOP!

(she rushes to kneelnext to the fallen DEREK.)

I can't stand being with you anymore Bob. I thought I was conent with my life, but this made me realize that I don't love you. In fact I hate you. You're a jerk, and I'm sick of all your bull crap. I'm leaving.

(she helps DEREK up)

BOB:

Leaving?

ELLIE:

Yes, leaving. Not just the house, but you. Not sure what I'm going to do, but as long as I'm not with you, I'm fine.

(This makes BOB angry so he slaps ELLIE)

BOB:

Leaving? You think you can leave me, Ellie? I put you back together when he left you, you're nothing without me. I own you.

(DEREK is sick of BOB's crap so he knocks BOB out.)

DEREK:

You don't hit a girl, you piece of crap.

ELLIE:

This doesn't mean we are back together you know.

DEREK:

It doesn't? What happens to the hero getting the girl in the end?

ELLIE:

That only happens when the hero isn't hiding something from the love of his life.

DEREK:

What if the reason is only part of the hero's fault and his stupidity?

ELLIE:

Does any of the rest of the blame go to the girl's sister who may or may not be evil.

DEREK:

Yes.

ELLIE:

I'm listening.

DEREK:

(sighs)

Well you see. Apperantly Lisa had this huge crush on me. So when she heard I was going to purpose to you, she set me up. She got me totally wasted one night, led me up to her apartment, and kissed me, and it was a kiss. Then she led me into her room. I spent-

ELLIE:

So, you cheated on me?

DEREK:

No, I did not cheat on you.

ELLIE:

But you just said-

DEREK:

Would you let me finish the story?

ELLIE:

Fine, but if I find out you cheated, so help me God...

DEREK:

I didn't cheat on you woman! After she got me inside, I realized what she was doing, so I stopped her. She accepted that and let me stay the night anyway. And apperantly she knows a security gaurd. 'Cause when I woke up she had a tape with us kissing, entering her room and me never leaving. She threatened to show you it if I didn't break up with you. I didn't want you to think I cheated on you so I left with a clean name.

(there is a pause as the words sink in.)

ELLIE:

SO, you didn't try to fight for me?

DEREK:

No and I realize I should have especially seeing what "saved" you.

(nudges the still uncouncious BOB with his foot.)

ELLIE:

I don't know if I can mave past the fact that you didn't try to fight for me.

DEREK:

I fought for you now, didn't I?

ELLIE:

True, but I'm still not sure.

(says this a little playfully)

DEREK:

I'm also am willing to start all over again, and get the put into the doghouse.

ELLIE:

hmmmm.

(pretends to think hard.)

I'll think about it.

(DEREK kisses ELLIE sweetly)

DEREK:

Think about it enough?

ELLIE:

(mocks being tired and surrendering)

Fine. I suppose, BUT! You're not out of the dog house yet.

Veteran's Day

Well today is Veteran's day. I want to say that I really appreciate all the veterans and people serving now. Freedom really is not free, but people really don't realize that. People take their freedom for granted way to much. Without all of our soldiers we wouldn't be the country we are today with our ability to protest or speak our mind. Tomorrow and even today many people won't recognize the impact that soldiers have on our country so please take a minuet today to say thank you to a veteran you know, even if you don't agree with war and violence remember that that soldier is willing to give up their life so you don't have to.
